The founder, Gregory Sledge, was a U.S. Army veteran in the VA's transitional housing program when he posted a Craigslist ad offering loading help for UF students renting U-Haul trucks. Two jobs booked within a day. UF students told their friends. Word spread. The original crew came from the VA transitional housing program — fellow veterans working their way out of homelessness through honest labor.

Gate code doesn't work. Common at Bartram, Cabana Beach, Museum Walk. We work with the leasing office or security to establish access. 15 to 45 minutes worst case.

Elevator reservation conflict. At Hub, Standard, or Nine during August rush. We split the crew — two movers work the elevator window, two work the loading zone.

Parent's rental truck arrives late. Happens during rush week. We bill from our arrival time. We'll help coordinate with the rental company.

Student hasn't finished packing. Common. We can help with final packing for additional time, or prioritize what IS packed and make a second trip.

Florida thunderstorm. July through September, afternoon thunderstorms are frequent. We proceed through light rain with tarps. Lightning triggers a 30 to 60 minute pause for safety.

95-degree heat crew fatigue. We schedule hydration breaks into the estimate. Mandatory breaks are faster than crew injuries.

Too much stuff for the truck. We recommend second trip if time allows, storage for overflow, or donation for items that don't need to go.
